Team Etixx QuickStep
What has been your credo in life that helps you overcome each challenge?
Tom Boonen: Live and let live. You need to show respect to everyone.
Tony Martin: Learn from others, believe in yourself.
Can you share some of your training tips to perform better?
Tom Boonen: For the younger guys, approach the bicycle as a game, a lovely game. Then throughout the years start working on yourself. However, inner serenity is fundamental for reaching your goals.
Tony Martin: Listen to your body, try to find inspiration in what your body tells you during training sessions. It’s a very important mental behaviour, especially in a time trial.
What advantages or benefits has the COMPEX SP8.0 brought to your performance?
Tom Boonen: I use it overall at the end of a long, hard training session, when I need to relax my legs. If I’m at home and I don’t have a masseur for my legs, I use Compex.
Tony Martin: I often use it immediately after a race, for example on long transfers. It revitalizes and at the same time it relaxes my muscles after effort.
What is your ultimate goal in your career?
Tom Boonen: To continue to enjoy bike racing. For me the bicycle is a life style. Then the results are a consequence.
Tony Martin:I would like to pull off winning the Olympic time trial. The Olympics is a dream I’ve been working on since I was a kid.
